ART3MIS Longrun MVR™: the MVR evaporator that redefines efficiency and quality

One year after the launch of the ART3MIS Longrun MVR™ evaporator

One year after its launch, the ART3MIS Longrun MVR™ has established itself as the benchmark MVR evaporator for tomato processors seeking maximum energy efficiency, operational continuity, and superior product quality.

Designed to process HB semi-concentrated products up to 16 Brix, this evaporator uses the most advanced Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) technology and a downflow circulation design to ensure high performance in product concentration, near-zero steam consumption, and long-term operational stability.

Continuous performance and uncompromised concentration

The ART3MIS Longrun MVR™ can process semi-concentrates up to 14 Bx for 90 consecutive days without cleaning and up to 16 Bx for 30 consecutive days, with a maximum water removal capacity of up to 25 t/h in a single evaporation column. The system ensures continuous production throughout the entire tomato season, minimizing downtime for cleaning.

Thanks to the downflow circulation, our system delivers a heat transfer coefficient 25% higher than forced-circulation MVR evaporators currently on the market. This allows for more efficient heat transfer and shorter overall residence time, even at maximum concentrations—two fundamental factors for preserving the color, flavor, and organoleptic characteristics of the final product.

Energy efficiency and built-in sustainability

One of the main advantages of an MVR evaporator is the drastic reduction in steam consumption.
In the case of the ART3MIS Longrun MVR™:

  • 99% of the required energy comes from electricity
  • Steam consumption drops to almost zero

This results in significant savings in energy costs and a drastic reduction in CO₂ emissions, enabling processors to avoid the related tax burden and move toward a more sustainable and electrified production model.

The modular multicolumn system, easily expandable (currently up to 3 columns), allows different products to be processed simultaneously in each column with no risk of contact between them. This translates into simpler operation, greater production flexibility, and the ability to easily adapt to varying volumes and line configurations.

In addition, the ART3MIS Longrun MVR™ evaporator can also handle more complex products—such as rustic sauces or pizza sauce—while consistently ensuring high quality standards.

The system is equipped with a fully automatic CIP system that also operates independently on each evaporation column.

Three installations, tangible results

Twelve months after its launch, we have already completed three operational installations at two major international customers, who have adopted the ART3MIS Longrun MVR™ evaporator as a key solution for improving the efficiency of their plants.

Data collected after the first production campaigns fully confirm expectations:

  • Reduced thermal energy costs compared to traditional multiple-effect evaporators
  • Continuous production stability, even with high-viscosity products
  • Optimal preservation of color and aromatic profile of the final concentrate
  • No need for cleaning over extended periods, increasing overall line efficiency
  • Easy integration with existing lines thanks to the system’s modular configuration
  • Production flexibility by processing different products at the same time

A step forward in process electrification

The results achieved confirm the ART3MIS Longrun MVR™ as the new benchmark in tomato concentration, thanks to the combination of advanced technology, energy efficiency, and product quality. This MVR evaporator, operating with almost no steam, contributes significantly to the electrification and sustainability of industrial processes, reinforcing our commitment to delivering increasingly reliable and competitive production solutions.
