Evaporators for the Food Industry

The CFT range to concentrate quality, efficiency and flexibility

Concentrating a product doesn’t just mean removing water: it means preserving its quality, colour, taste and functional characteristics. Evaporators for the food industry must combine all of this, while reducing energy consumption and ensuring production continuity.

It is with this vision that, for over 80 years, we have been designing evaporators for the food & beverage sector, with solutions conceived to process tomato, fruit and dairy products, adapting to different production needs.

Today we present the new video dedicated to our range of evaporators: a journey through technologies and applications, to discover how we support producers in the daily challenge of achieving maximum performance with the utmost respect for the product.

Evaporation technologies for the food industry: energy efficiency and product protection

CFT evaporation plants are based on different technological approaches, selectable according to the type of product and the level of concentration required. In particular, the solutions can leverage:

  • Multiple effect, ideal for handling even high concentrations and complex products
  • Mechanical Vapour Recompression (MVR), one of the most energy-efficient options
  • Thermal Vapour Recompression (TVR), to reuse process vapours and increase efficiency

The solutions featured in the video: 6 evaporators, 6 production answers

In the video we present six evaporators, each designed for a specific balance between performance, gentle treatment, product viscosity and consumption.

1. Art3mis Longrun MVR™ – operational continuity and high performance

Art3mis Longrun MVR™ combines MVR technology and a falling-circulation design to set new efficiency standards, particularly in the production of HB tomato concentrates up to 16° Brix. Its architecture makes it possible to process two different products simultaneously, even at different Brix levels.

Its real strength is continuity: thanks to product recirculation it guarantees up to 90 days of operation without washing, depending on the Brix level, ensuring operability for the entire season with no need for CIP.

Added to this are the energy and environmental benefits: zero steam consumption for evaporation, zero CO₂ emissions and no carbon tax. The compact layout of the electrical panel optimises space and reduces wiring costs.

A solution designed for those who want to combine production continuity, energy savings and consistent quality.

2. Apollo MVR – efficiency and gentleness on sensitive products

Apollo MVR is a latest-generation falling-film evaporator with MVR technology, designed for those seeking high performance with reduced consumption. Thanks to a ΔT of just 6-8 °C between the heating fluid and the product and very short residence times, it preserves the organoleptic characteristics, ensuring high final quality.

On the energy and environmental front it offers steam savings of up to 98%, effectively eliminating consumption for evaporation, with zero CO₂ emissions and no carbon tax.

It is suitable for low-viscosity products, particularly in the fruit, tomato and dairy sectors.

3. Venus – the solution for ultra-high-viscosity products

When concentration increases and the product becomes more complex to handle, the Venus evaporator is a benchmark in multiple-effect technology. Based on the principle of downward forced circulation and enhanced by proprietary recirculation pumps, it is suitable for ultra-high-viscosity products, both tomato and fruit.

The pumps ensure optimised fluid dynamics and, together with the counter-current steam configuration, ideal heat transfer: the result is high performance even at low average circulation temperatures and with reduced residence times.

Its main advantages include circulation efficiency, reduced fouling and the ability to operate for up to 50 days without washing.

4. Poseidon – falling film and efficiency with TVR technology

Poseidon is a multiple-effect falling-film evaporator, with a co-current flow configuration and the option to integrate TVR technology to further improve energy efficiency and optimise consumption.

It is a multipurpose solution suitable for fruit juices (clear or cloudy), milk and protein broths: the low volume and reduced residence times, combined with low temperatures, protect the product’s properties, preserving its colour and flavour.

It also integrates pasteurisation with heat recovery of up to 95%.

5. Mixflow MVR – quality and energy savings for medium viscosity

Mixflow MVR uses mixed circulation (upward and downward), enhanced by MVR technology. It is designed for medium-viscosity products, fruit and tomato, which it treats gently thanks to low temperatures and reduced residence times. In fruit applications, an indirect surface condenser ensures aroma recovery to support final quality.

On the energy and environmental front, steam consumption for evaporation is eliminated, with zero CO₂ emissions and no carbon tax; the reduced installed power for the recirculation pumps helps contain operating costs.

6. Mixflow Multiple Effect – versatility and multipurpose configurations

Mixflow Multiple Effect is a multiple-effect solution designed to offer high application flexibility, adapting to different production needs and different product types.

With a strong focus on fruit processing, it combines mixed-circulation effects with low volume and reduced residence time, and integrates a Venus finishing effect for handling ultra-high-viscosity products.

Hybrid Evaporation: the best of every technology in a single plant

The real strength of the CFT range lies in the possibility of combining several technologies in a hybrid evaporation configuration, which brings together Apollo MVR, Art3mis Longrun MVR and Venus in a single tomato-concentration line. The product is taken from its initial Brix degrees to the final concentration (32-36° Brix) by passing through the technology best suited to each stage: high-efficiency pre-concentration, simultaneous management of different products and ultra-high-viscosity final concentration.

The result is a plant with zero steam consumption for up to 80% of the total water evaporated, for maximum energy efficiency without compromising on the quality of the concentrate.

A complete approach: quality, efficiency, continuity

From pre-concentration to high concentrations, our evaporators for the food industry make it possible to build modular and scalable configurations, with one clear objective: to achieve the maximum industrial result with the minimum impact on the product and on consumption.

Stay tuned: the next innovation is near. We will soon unveil e-Venus MVR, the new chapter in the CFT range of evaporators.
